Tournament Rules

​Participation & Eligibility

  • Participation is open to all anglers of any age.

  • This is an individual Big Bass format (up to 3 anglers per boat).

  • Only paid contestants are allowed on a contestant’s boat during tournament hours.

Entry Fee

  • Entry fee for a minor (17 and under) is $50.

  • Entry fee for adults (18+) is $100.

  • Signed entry form must be received for each angler before fishing.

​Permitted Fishing Areas & Hours

  • Tournament hours are 9am – 3pm.  You may be on the water at as early as 7am, but no casting until 9:00am

  • Once you're registered, you are not required to check-in before going to fish

  • Hours paid will be 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm plus overall big bass payouts.

  • Scales will open at the bottom ½ hour for each hour beginning at 9:30am and close at 3:00pm.  YOU MUST BE IN LINE BEFORE THE TOP OF THE HOUR TO QUALIFY.  For example, you may not get in line at 11:01am to enter the 11:00 hour.

  • Boats may leave from any ramp and may trailer to and from the weigh-in at Canyon Lake Marina.  (The Canyon Lake Marina boat ramp will not be available for loading or unloading of boats)

  • All fishing must be done from a boat, and only water in Canyon Lake that is accessible by boat.

  • No fishing is permitted within 100 yds of Canyon Lake Marina or any area designated “No Fishing” or “No Boats”


  • Only live bass may be presented at the scales.

  • Overall Big Bass, and Youth Overall Big Bass will be determined by the fish submitted during the hourly weigh ins.

  • Only bass caught during official tournament hours may be presented to the scales.

  • Only one bass per contestant, per hour, may be submitted for the hourly payout. There is no limit on the number of hours an individual may submit a fish

  • Bass entered do not carry forward from hour to hour.

  • In the event of an hourly first place tie, the winner will be determined by which contestant weighed-in first. All other ties will result in the prizes/awards being combined and divided equally between the respective contestants.

  • Only Black Bass, Smallmouth and Guadalupe bass will be weighed.

​Tackle & Equipment

  • All fish must be caught in a legal sporting manner using rod and reel. Intentional snagging of fish will not be allowed.

  • Only artificial lures may be used (no live or prepared bait is permitted)

  • No trolling with the combustion motor

  • No “hole sitting” allowed, meaning you cannot have another angler/boat hold a fishing spot for you.


  • All contestants are required to follow high standards of courtesy, conservation, and all lake and state of Texas regulations.
